Every stove we sell is DEFRA Exempt, Ecodesign 2022 Compliant, and rated clearSkies Level 5 — the highest independent clean-burning standard in the UK. Here's what each one actually means for you.

DEFRA Exempt

DEFRA Exempt means this stove is approved for use in UK Smoke Control Areas — including most towns and cities. You can legally burn wood in it even if you live in a smoke-controlled zone, without needing special permission.

Ecodesign 2022 Compliant

Ecodesign 2022 is the current UK and EU standard for stove emissions and efficiency. It sets strict limits on particulate emissions and requires stoves to burn cleaner and more efficiently than older models — better for your home, your air quality, and your fuel bills.

ClearSkies Level 5

clearSkies Level 5 is the top rating in the UK's independent clean-burning certification scheme. It means this stove exceeds the Ecodesign 2022 standard by at least 30% — the cleanest, most efficient category a stove can achieve.
