Certifications
Certification varies by model. Always check the individual product information and the official exemption information for the stove you are considering.

DEFRA and Smoke Control Areas
A DEFRA-exempt stove may be used with the permitted fuel in a Smoke Control Area when it is installed and operated in accordance with the approved instructions and any conditions applying to that model. Depending on the stove, this may include a permanent air-control limiter or stop, or a separately purchased DEFRA kit. A separate DEFRA kit is not included with the stove unless the individual product information specifically says that it is. Check the product information and the official exemption details for the applicable model before purchase and installation.

Ecodesign 2022
Ecodesign sets requirements for stove emissions and efficiency. Where an individual product is described as Ecodesign compliant, refer to that product’s information for its verified efficiency, energy rating and emissions credentials.

clearSkies
clearSkies is an independent emissions and energy-performance certification scheme for solid-fuel stoves. Ratings are model-specific, so check the individual product information to confirm whether a stove has a clearSkies rating and what level applies.
